The Football Tournament organized by AWB

The AWB Football Tournament was organized to bring together African students in Istanbul at the end of the summer period, with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle while providing a dynamic, friendly and entertaining social environment. The tournament also aimed to strengthen solidarity between different African student unions and teams representing various countries. To this end, teams from Burkina Faso, South Sudan, Cameroon and Mali participated in the event. The semi-finals took place in a highly competitive atmosphere. The match between Burkina Faso and South Sudan ended with a score of 4–4, and it was South Sudan who reached the final after the penalty shootout (0-2). In the other semi-final, Mali beat Cameroon with a clear score of 6–0, becoming the runners-up to South Sudan. The final was played at an intense pace and with a large crowd. South Sudan, thanks to a strong performance, won against Mali with a score of 2–0, becoming the champions of the tournament. At the end of the competition, the cup was awarded to the winning team, while the distinctions of “Best Scorer” and “Best Goalkeeper” were awarded to the players who stood out for their individual performances. The champion team received a gold medal and the runners-up received a silver medal. The AWB Football Tournament, marked by high participation and an enthusiastic atmosphere, proved to be a successful organization. It once again highlighted the unifying power of sport while strengthening the bonds of friendship, unity and cooperation between African students.
