The second edition of the Jambo Afrika Program, organized in partnership between Africa Without Borders and the African Research Community BİLPAT, was carried out as a major academic event focusing on the traditional wealth of the continent, higher education systems and the activities of the media as well as civil organizations in Africa. The objective of the program was to examine in a multidimensional manner the historical, cultural, economic and educational dimensions of Africa and to allow participants to benefit from the analyzes of experts from different fields. The first session, devoted to the traditional riches of Africa as well as traditional and modern culture, focused on the cultural heritage of the continent, its ancestral values and contemporary cultural transformations. Participants were informed of the cultural diversity acquired by the continent throughout its history and the current dynamics of cultural production. Speaker Muhammed Khazin highlighted the way in which elders are considered sources of knowledge and experience in African culture and recalled the famous phrase of Amadou Hampâté Bâ highlighting this essential vision according to which “when an old man dies, a library burns”. The second session addressed the activities of media and civil society organizations in Africa as well as the role of higher education systems. Speaker Ali Adam X insisted on the need for non-governmental organizations to favor sustainable projects developed in cooperation with local partners rather than short-term aid initiatives. He also recalled that projects must respect both the laws of the country concerned and the standards of the organization which carries them.
