Africa Without Borders organized the 2025 edition of Africa Day under the theme “Exist in the Era of New Technologies, Advance with Dedication”, a program structured around reflection on the place of Africa in contemporary global dynamics. The event, which was held on May 25, 2025 at the Center for Environmental and Neighboring Countries Studies of Istanbul Commerce University, was inspired by the Sankofa vision of the Ashanti Empire, based on the idea of ​​building the future by drawing strength and lessons from the past. The program has thus placed at the heart of its approach the ambition to explore the challenges and opportunities offered by digital transformation, technological innovation and sustainable development efforts on the continent. Alongside members of Africa Without Borders, presidents and representatives of African student unions from Istanbul as well as delegations from different cities participated in this event, creating an atmosphere of cooperation, solidarity and intellectual sharing. The opening ceremony began with the intervention of the vice-president of the Africa Day Organizing Committee, Moussa Hissein Moussa, who underlined the historical and social importance of this day as well as the strategic role of youth in building the future of the continent. Professor Ahmet Kavas, director of the Center for Studies on the Environment and Neighboring Countries, recalled the great historical transformations of Africa and the future prospects that they allow us to glimpse.
