Africa Day, organized by Africa Without Borders, was held on May 27, 2025 at Medeniyet University. This year's edition was structured around the theme "AfroFuturism: The future belongs to the dreamers", offering a rich and multidimensional program aimed at developing a collective vision of the future of the continent, informed by the strength of its history. Panel: AfroFuturism The keynote panel explored the historical origins, theoretical foundations and contemporary implications of AfroFuturism, highlighting its influence on art, technology, representation and social transformation. The discussions were based on emblematic figures and productions such as: Samuel R. Delany, pioneer of speculative science fiction Janelle Monáe, artist whose works and performances embody the Afrofuturist aesthetic Black Panther (Marvel), which helped place AfroFuturism at the heart of global popular culture The speakers underlined that AfroFuturism is not only an artistic movement, but a real conceptual framework influencing modes of thought linked to identity, representation, technology and future imaginations. Theatrical Performance: “United Africa” One of the most notable moments of the day was the “United Africa” theatrical performance, staging an imagined model of unified governance of the African continent. This political fiction presented an Africa organized into regions such as Kush, Kanem, Zulu, Swahili and Songhai, inspired by ancient African empires, each exhibiting its own development strategies. The climax of the play was the sequence where a united Africa claims a veto within the United Nations.
